The SENTINEL (Strategic Engagement Network for Threat Intelligence, Law Enforcement Liaison and Jewish Community Protection) project, led by SACC by EJC and funded by the European Union, addresses the growing threat of antisemitism across Europe. Jewish communities have faced serious impacts from antisemitism, affecting their freedom to practice religion and personal safety. While reported incidents temporarily declined during COVID-19 lockdowns, online antisemitism surged, creating new channels for hate speech.
Launched in January 2025 for a three-year period, SENTINEL strengthens the protection and preparedness of Jewish communities and their places of worship across 23 EU Member States. The project focuses on four pillars: assessing threats, responding to incidents, providing training and capacity-building, and raising public awareness. SENTINEL uses AI-driven tools to monitor both online and offline antisemitism and has developed an interactive map and dataset of security and antisemitic incidents, offering communities and authorities a centralized resource for threat intelligence. Security awareness is reinforced through conferences, workshops, seminars, and briefings with law enforcement and community representatives. Public outreach includes reports, podcasts, social media, and the project website.
The project aligns with the EU Strategy on combating antisemitism, the EU Counter-Terrorist Agenda 2020-2025, and the communication “No place for hate: a Europe united against hatred,” emphasizing cooperation between communities and authorities and the development of community-led security strategies.
Project partners include: SACC by EJC, Union Europeene des Etudiants Juifs, Federacion de Comunidades Judias de Espana, Federace Zidovskych Obci v Ceske Republice, Stichting International Centre for Counter-Terrorism, Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Wien, Magyarorszagi Zsido Hitkozsegek Szovetsege Tarsadalmi Szervezet, Unione Comunita Ebraiche Italiane, and two national law enforcement agencies.
