A mural depicting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is set to be removed in the coming days following a complaint by the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France (Crif). The artwork, painted in October on the wall of a local sports complex, has been deemed antisemitic by several observers.

The image includes a seven-branched menorah, a symbol of Judaism, positioned next to a skull draped in a Palestinian keffiyeh. According to the Crif’s regional president Laurent Hofnung, the juxtaposition implies that the Jewish people are responsible for mass killings, a message he describes as deeply offensive. He emphasized that even non-Jewish passersby recognized an antisemitic undertone, indicating a subliminal message regardless of the artist’s intent.
