The group “Palestine Solidarity in Cologne” organized a public solidarity Christmas market at the Academy of Media Arts. Items sold there included badges depicting the outline of Israel colored in the colors of the Palestinian flag, thereby denying Israel’s right to exist. Books were also promoted which, according to the Society for Critical Education, advocate for the “end of the Jewish state.”
Members of the Society for Critical Education visited the market and were verbally targeted with the words “That’s a Zionist!” They were first identified as “Zionists,” then harassed and physically assaulted.
