Upon delegation from the Public Prosecutor’s Offices at the Juvenile Courts with territorial jurisdiction, the State Police carried out 22 searches across the country targeting young people between the ages of 13 and 17,  in extremist, supremacist, accelerationist, antagonistic, and jihadist contexts. This extensive operation was coordinated by the Central Directorate of Prevention Police.

The prevention activities and intelligence gathering (shared within the Anti-Terrorism Strategic Analysis Committee ) found in the investigative developments of investigations carried out against minors who were searched or arrested or identified as being involved in extremist contexts, have highlighted a progressive increase in the involvement of minors in contexts of deviance and crime in the context of subversion and domestic and international terrorism.

As part of efforts to counter the jihadist threat, a search was carried out on behalf of the Bologna Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office on the  property of a 17-year-old resident in the province of Ravenna . The operation was carried out following investigations conducted on IP addresses acquired as part of international collaboration.

The aforementioned investigations revealed connections to web spaces linked to jihadist propaganda, including the Al-Raud Media Archive , a space linked to the Islamic State, where jihadist material from the Caliphate’s media channels, such as Al Naba magazine, the Al-Furqan media foundation, and Al-Bayan radio, can be accessed. Further investigations revealed hundreds of connections from the account used by the young man, who was also found to have shared similarly oriented propaganda content in WhatsApp groups.
