He attacked a prison guard shouting “Allah Akbar.” It happened in the detention ward of the hospital in Vercelli. The policeman had a 30-day prognosis: only the intervention of other blue Basques averted more tragic consequences.
The attack took place after the policeman allowed the detainee to leave the room to go to the bathroom. “It is quite clear – says the regional secretary of Sappe Vicente Santilli – that we can no longer work: in addition to the continuous verbal threats and insults, we must also record the reference to the slogans of a brutal and violent Islamic fundamentalism. The prison police must be put in a position to carry out their work in safety, in prisons and hospitals, but politics and institutions must outline a regulatory framework of intransigence and repression for every violent act committed against those who, in uniform, represent the State.
