A Jewish cemetery in Randers has again been vandalized.
On Friday, the East Jutland Police received a report that several graves had been vandalized. Three gravestones had been knocked over and broken from their foundations during the day, according to the police’s 24-hour report.
The East Jutland Police have therefore conducted special supervision of the cemetery over the weekend, and several forensic investigations have been carried out.
The vandalism coincides with this weekend’s commemorations of the anniversary of Kristallnacht, when Nazis attacked Jews across Germany on November 9, 1938.
Five years ago, two men with connections to a neo-Nazi movement were convicted of extensive vandalism against the cemetery.
This is part of the police’s considerations, says Police Inspector Anders Uhrskov from East Jutland Police.
– We are at the point in the investigation where we do not rule out anything, and if there are interesting things from the past, that is also included. Conversely, we must say that anti-Semitism has increased in recent years, and therefore there are of course other avenues to look at.
