Two commemorative plaques honoring a Jewish family who perished during the Nazi era were defaced in Berlin-Schöneberg. The incident occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday, when unknown perpetrators covered the plaques with black paint, rendering them illegible. The memorials were located at the entrance of a residential building on Nollendorfstraße.
Police received an online report of the vandalism around 9 a.m. on Monday. Investigators believe the act was antisemitically motivated. The State Security division of the Berlin Criminal Police Office (LKA) has taken over the investigation. As of now, there are no leads on the perpetrators.
