A mural by artist aleXsandro Palombo featuring Holocaust survivors Liliana Segre, Edith Bruck, and Sami Modiano was vandalized once more in Milan. The artwork, displayed on the walls of the Montello Barracks, was defaced with white paint and graffiti reading “Free Palestine,” “Israeli Nazis,” and “Gaza concentration camp.” The phrase “Arbeit macht frei” on Edith Bruck’s portrait was also replaced, drawing an offensive and false parallel between Gaza and Nazi extermination camps.

This act of antisemitism comes during Holocaust remembrance month and adds to a series of repeated attacks on the same mural, which had already been targeted multiple times over the past year. A 35-year-old man was previously identified and charged by the Digos (Italian counterterrorism police) for earlier acts of vandalism, with aggravating circumstances related to hate motivation.
