On Saturday, August 16, at the Karl-Oskardagarna in central Växjö, the Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR) held an anti-Semitic demonstration.
NMR handed out propaganda leaflets and unfurled a large banner with the text
“Swedes first, Jews last.”
There were many patrolling police in town during the Karl-Oskar weekend so the police were able to quickly arrive at the scene and ensure that the Nazis were taken away.
They had no permit for the demonstration.
A 35-year-old man is therefore suspected of violating the Public Order Act and incitement against an ethnic group, according to Smålandsposten.
The Swedish Committee Against Antisemitism writes on Facebook that the NMR demonstration in Växjö is yet another example of how central antisemitism is to these groups of Nazis – and how gross and open their hatred and threats against Jews can take.
NMR’s activities decreased in 2024 compared to 2023. However, according to Expo, activity in the racial ideological environment as a whole increased.
NMR is one of the leading Nazi groups and the conspiracy theories it spreads are often anti-Semitic in nature.
