The staff of the Perugia State Police – with the coordination of the Central Directorate of Prevention Police – executed a custodial order issued by the GIP of the Court of Perugia, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Perugia, against an Italian citizen born in 2001, with no criminal record, held responsible for the rself-training crime for the purpose of international terrorism.
The investigation activity was developed following the report of the Central Directorate of the Prevention Police which, within the concrete and profitable collaboration with the FBI, has acquired several IP addresses, operating on the national territory, of individuals who have accessed websites directly attributable to terrorist organisations of a jihadi, dedicated to propaganda and proselytism, recruitment activities and teaching techniques for making explosive devices.
The investigations carried out by the Digos staff of Perugia, constantly coordinated by this Office, have allowed us to trace an IP address operating in the province of Perugia, attributable to a 24-year-old who, last September, was subjected to a house search, an activity which gave a positive outcome.
In fact, at the young man’s home, the police found various devices, later seized, containing thousands of files regarding manuals for the construction of weapons, explosive devices, instructions for the production of gunpowder, as well as other material proving his progressive radicalization.
It has also been ascertained that the 24-year-old’s attempt to make an explosive device and alter the contents of a common device to increase its potential for harm in the event of an explosion.
This Office, having reconstructed the entire affair, also on the basis of the investigative elements provided by the Digos, has requested the application of the measure of pre-trial detention in prison.
The GIP of the Court of Perugia, given that there are elements regarding the seriousness of the contested facts and serious indications of guilt against the 24 year old, as well as his dangerousness, has ordered the precautionary measure of detention in prison against him.
