A person has been arrested in the Malmö area on Tuesday, January 27, on suspicion of participation in a terrorist organization, classified as a serious offense, as well as serious weapons violations.
The suspicions involve violent Islamist extremism with links to the terrorist organization Hamas. The Swedish Security Service (Säkerhetspolisen) has been working on the case for some time. The investigation is not connected to any other ongoing case.
Säkerhetspolisen is conducting the preliminary investigation under the direction of a prosecutor from the National Security Unit. The suspect is now being held in custody pending a detention hearing at the Malmö District Court.
