Terrorism investigators have taken action against eight suspects for forming a suspected right-wing extremist armed group. Thirteen properties were searched in Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg, and North Rhine-Westphalia , according to the Celle Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The eight suspects are between 32 and 57 years old. Four of the suspects are also alleged to be in illegal possession of military weapons and other fully automatic firearms . Since Tuesday morning, searches have been underway in the Hanover region, as well as in the city and district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony, the Pforzheim district in Baden-Württemberg, and the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The aim of the raids was to find such weapons and gain further insight into the group’s activities and possible planned actions , investigators said. Special police forces were also involved in the operation. A pistol and ammunition were confiscated from one of the suspects in April. (dpa, AFP)
