Unknown perpetrators defaced a memorial plaque for a former synagogue in Darmstadt with swastikas . The words “free palestine” were also carved into a granite slab in front of the plaque, a police spokeswoman told the German Press Agency (dpa). Hessischer Rundfunk (HRS) had previously reported.
Two swastikas were reportedly scrawled on the sandstone memorial plaque . The perpetrator(s) are still unknown, and it is currently unclear when the crime occurred. According to the spokeswoman, the graffiti was discovered on Friday afternoon. State security has now begun an investigation, and the police are also seeking witnesses.
