Society: Violent incident in Dresden-Mickten
Dresden ( ) – A 31-year-old Syrian man attacked four people in Dresden-Mickten on Wednesday and has been temporarily detained. Police reported that the man first attacked a 29-year-old woman with a small child at the Alttrachau tram stop at around 10:05 a.m.
Shortly afterwards, the perpetrator punched and kicked a 67-year-old female driver who had just gotten out of her car.
He then attacked another 64-year-old female driver through an open passenger window. A 37-year-old passerby who rushed to the woman’s aid was also assaulted but managed to restrain the suspect.
During his arrest, the man chanted religious sayings and showed signs of mental illness, whereupon he was involuntarily committed.
All four victims suffered injuries and received medical treatment. The criminal police are investigating the incident as a case of assault; the motive remains unclear.
