An Iranian couple showed up at the “Vincenzo Bellini” airport in Catania with a plane ticket to London and, after queuing at passport control, when it was time to show their travel documents they presented two Brazilian passports

They attempted to take a flight to London by pretending to be two Brazilian tourists. Their plan, however, was foiled by the timely intervention of the police. An Iranian couple showed up at the “Vincenzo Bellini” airport in Catania with a plane ticket to London and, after queuing at passport control, when it was time to show their travel documents they presented two Brazilian passports, which were immediately deemed suspicious by the border police officers.

The operators in charge of document control, before the usual boarding procedures, carried out further checks, inviting the couple to wait in the police station in order to allow, at the same time, the technical operations of verification of the passports, through the use of specific latest-generation electronic equipment that detected various anomalies and alterations of both passports.

For this reason, the two Iranian spouses, a 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, were arrested for the crime of possession and manufacturing of false identification documents.
