The Finish Ministry of Interior, the Jewish Community of Helsinki and the Finnish Muslim Network organised the “Antisemitism and islamophobia – in Europe and in Finland” seminar in collaboration with SACC by EJC. The seminar was held on the 27th February 2019 in Helsinki at the House of Estates.
Antisemitism and islamophobia have increased in Finland. Current developments such as the polarization of societies, the increased activities of extremist movements and hate speech have fueled antisemitism, islamophobia and other forms of racism and hate. The seminar aimed to inform and motivate the authorities, police, researchers and members of the civil society to tackle such ideologies as well as to increase awareness and knowledge regarding these phenomena and share examples of effective policies on how to prevent antisemitism and islamophobia.
